“There are two approaches to data logging; the grab everything approach …and the intelligent logging approach…”

The grab everything approach often requires  quite high data-rate capture for long periods of time, leading to very large storage requirements. This approach is sometimes necessary for company security and testing trace-ability reasons. The other alternative is the smart logging approach, in which you run an intelligent logging algorithm, maintaining one or more rotating buffers with defined pre-trigger periods. When an event of interest occurs, log the pre- and post-event data and continue. This massively reduces the

storage needed, though the logger must now be capable of not only capturing, but also analysing the data at the requisite rate. You must also have a high level of confidence that the logging algorithm is correct and will recognise all instances of the event of interest.

Add2 can provide the solution most appropriate to your needs. Just send us an email detailing your requirements and we will get back to you to discuss your requirements in more detail.
