MICROGen is used for rapid control prototyping and for communications gateways.

Below are some of the facilities available on the MICROGen hardware platform.

Figures in brackets are the maximum number available

I/O Ports

Inputs – Genix (12)

Using our patented software configurable signal conditioning “Genix” system these inputs may be analogue digital or timer / capture. The gain loading and filtering may also be adjusted

The inputs are also Hall effect compatible.

Inputs – Standard (12)

These inputs may be pulled up/down and be analogue or digital

Outputs – Analogue (8)

These 12bit outputs can drive up to the supply rail

Outputs C/O Relay (8)

These are protected 8A outputs.

Outputs Low-side 1A (8)

These protected general purpose outputs can drive lamps etc.

Outputs PWM 8A (8)

These outputs, also featuring “Genix” technology, can drive as Hi-side, Low-side, Half and full bridge and are fully protected.

Communication ports

CAN 2.0b Hi Speed (2)

There are two CAN ports for Hi-Speed  communications up to 1MBaud

CAN 2.0b low Speed (2)

There are two CAN ports for Low-Speed  “comfort CAN” communications with fault tolerant CAN.

These two CAN ports may optionally be high speed rather than low speed

LIN (1)

There is one LIN Master or Slave port with optional blockset support for Simulink®.

K-Bus (1)

K-Bus support with block-set is available as on option.

RS232 / RS485 (1)

Either RS232 or RS485 is available as on option.

SCP (1)

If you are a Ford customer you are entitled to use the SCP communications facilities on the unit

USB (1)

An optional facility is the USB port which can be accessed via your model.

Display

Most variants are supplied with a “night and day” display allowing for dashboard use and other information display.

LCD

The Display is 16 alpha numeric characters wide with controllable backlight and contrast

LEDS

10 LEDs are available for indication

SOUNDER

A piezo sounder with 16 frequency and 16 period settings is available to give a wide range of audible indication.

Stack Board

An optional plug-in card called the “Stack Board Rainbow“ is available that extends the I/O count to well over 100.

The additional facilities include:

High resolution 16bit differential analogue inputs (14)

Isolated drive by wire outputs (4)

TPU timer inputs (24)

Wheel speed inputs for variable reluctance sensors

TPU PWM/Digital Outputs Hi Side (8)

TPU PWM/Digital Outputs Low Side (16)

TPU High Current Half/Full Bridge (2/1)

MICROGen also features an LCD with 10 LEDs and audible sounder with full Matlab/Simulink® support.
